A power sapphire lens is featured on the Garmin Descent G1. Fiber-reinforced polymer is used for the bezel and casing. With a display resolution of 176×176 pixels, the monochrome, transflective memory-in-pixel (MIP) display has a two-window design. The wearable weighs 61 grams, measures 45.5mm in diameter, and is waterproof to a depth of 100 meters.

Multiple dive modes, ranging from technical to free dives, are supported by the Garmin Descent G1, including single-gas mode, gauge mode, apnea mode, nitrox mode, and so on. Up to 200 dives can be saved on the smartwatch. The Garmin Dive app allows users to publish, share, and review their dives. The GPS-enabled device will aid divers in their navigation.

The Garmin Descent G1 also allows users to keep track of their activity while they are not on the water. More than 30 sports apps and training tools are included in the wearable. The smartwatch includes a step counter, calories burnt to track and Move IQ tracks. Individual features suited to specific sports, such as golf, swimming, and boating, are available.

The wristwatch includes a respiration rate monitor, heart rate monitor, blood oxygen saturation level (SpO2) measurement, fitness age determination, water reminders, and sleep cycle tracker, among other health-tracking capabilities. The Descent G1 also has a compass, temperature, and gyroscope, among other sensors. Find My Phone is one of the smart functions included with the watch. When coupled with an iPhone or an Android phone, the wearable also allows users to make calls from their wrists. The device also has a Garmin Pay feature that allows for contactless payments.

In dive mode, the new Garmin Descent G1 has a battery life of up to 25 hours on a single charge. The smartwatch’s battery life can last up to 21 days when it’s not in dive mode, according to Garmin. The wearable can last up to 48 days in power saver mode. The solar version, on the other hand, can last up to four months on a single charge (considering all-day wear with three hours of daylight exposure daily).
